A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of photographing Maddy and Cameron’s wedding day at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn. And can I just say how amazing it was? It was a super warm day (90+ degrees) but everyone was in such good spirits and so excited to celebrate with this sweet couple! Maddy and Cameron were married in a beautiful garden ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends. There was so much love and joy present, making it a truly beautiful event!
Maddy and Cameron met through the honors program at Biola University. Maddy caught Cameron’s eye, and he asked for her number. Less than 24 hours later, he asked her to get “some food, or some coffee, or something sometime.” Maddy accepted, not realizing it was meant to be a date, figuring it was a good excuse to get yet another cup of coffee. And of course, they hit it off. Little did they both know, they would spend the rest of their lives getting coffee together.
They got engaged on July 3, 2018, after spending the day with Maddy’s family on the Oregon Coast. “After dinner, we went to Hug Pointe,” said Maddy. “…and I knew Cameron was going to pop the question, because that was the place at which my dad proposed to my mom”. As anticipated, Cameron got down on his knee and popped the question, and Maddy enthusiastically said yes! “While he was putting the ring on my finger, his shoes were swept away by a wave,” recalled Maddy. “We had to chase after them! It was a memory I’ll never forget.”
Looking back, it’s clear that Maddy and Cameron put a lot of thought into their special day. One detail stood out from the rest though– Maddy’s wedding dress, which turned out to be SO beautiful, was actually made by her mother! The dress fit her perfectly and Maddy looked like a princess twirling around on the dance floor with her prince. What a special detail to cherish for years to come!
We also loved the plum hues and the DIY elements sprinkled throughout the day! “We [included] a lot of antique/old frames as part of our decor because my mom is an art teacher and framed art was such a huge part of my upbringing,” said Maddy, describing the style of their wedding. They even offered their guests a “late night snack” in the middle of the night’s dancing and shenanigans. “Pretzels were Cameron’s high school mascot, and he absolutely loves them, said Maddy. So they served warm pretzels as a treat for their guests to enjoy.
From their first look under the trees to their sparkler send-off, each moment felt more special than the last. We absolutely loved getting to celebrate with Maddy and Cameron on their wedding day. These two have such a beautiful connection and it was easy to capture the love that they share for each other. ❤️
