It’s March, which means engagement season is upon us! We met Kassie and Kevin for our first engagement session of 2018, and it was SUCH a beautiful way to start the photography season! When Kassie asked if we could do the session at the ranch they live on near Prineville, I was more than happy to oblige. I love to shoot at places that are meaningful to my clients–it makes the experience so much more intimate and special. Little did I know just how beautiful this ranch would be!
There was still snow on the ground when we pulled into their driveway, and as a photographer, snow is a wonderful tool. It acts as a natural reflector and creates some of the most beautiful light. We don’t get a lot of snow in Eugene, so I was thrilled that we would get to tromp around in it for a while.
We had so much fun while Kassie and Kevin showed us the different parts of their ranch. From the gorgeous trees and rolling hills, to the frozen pond, the property was truly beautiful. I giggled when Kevin drove us through a gate on the property and had to push the cows aside while we went through. (I love cows… and hippos… and large animals in general.) It was about 35 degrees out, but Kevin and Kassie were champs and allowed us to photograph them for two whole hours. (Thank goodness for blankets and hand warmers!)
It was a joy to meet this sweet couple in person and experience the love that they share for each other. They have such a lovely connection together, and it came across beautifully in their photos. They are also such kind and warm people–getting to work with couples like them is such a joy, and a big part of why I love what I do.
We’ll see Kassie and Kevin again for their wedding this August, and I just can’t wait!
